One of Shaun TenHaken’s responsibilities at Sigma-Aldrich is to perform quality assurance tests. Those may involve determining the amount of water in the chemical that is being packaged or determining the purity of the chemical by how it absorbs light at different wavelengths. His father Bruce ’86, a fellow chemistry alumnus, manages environmental cleanup projects but focuses on asbestos consulting for Cardinal Environmental, Inc.
In April, Sara Timmer ’86 began conducting a unique experiment. She and her students at Highland Christian School, Highland, Indiana, are germinating soybean seeds in the classroom while other soybeans are germinating way outside of the classroom…namely outer space.
