Hi from cold and windy Salzburg. We left Rothenburg this morning and stopped for a tour of Mad King Ludwig's grand palace at Herrenchiemsee. It's an incredibly ornate structure, 70% of which remains unfinished, built in the late 19th century in homage to Ludwig's idol, Louis IV. As we left to catch the boat back to the mainland (did I mention the castle is on an island?) the sleet/rain started in earnest, which really made the gale-force winds uncomfortable. We were glad to arrive at our very modern hotel here in Salzburg to dry out and warm up. No Wi-Fi in the hotel--I'm sending this from the sidewalk outside--so no pictures today. Everybody is well and having a great time. More soon!
