Update from Vienna, Saturday night
We're continuing to have a great time despite less than ideal weather. Today was mostly cloudy and sometimes rainy and rather cold. On the way out of Salzburg, we stopped at the picturesque mountain town of St. Gilgen, where we all made our own Mozartkugeln (chocolate-covered hazelnut and marzipan). We arrived in Vienna about 4 pm and had a while to wander around and shop. Tonight we visited a wonderful new museum, the Haus der Musik, with lots of interactive exhibits and great historical displays. Our students had the opportunity to virtually conduct the Vienna Philharmonic. Today was Kirsten's birthday, and she got a Sachertorte with a candle in it after dinner. What gorgeous country this is, with so much to see and do. Tomorrow we have a walking tour of Vienna. Many of us have already purchased replacement umbrellas, because our compact little ones from home have been no match for the strong winds here. More rain in the forecast for tomorrow -- not to worry, though, no dampening of spirits.
