This morning students joined the congregation at Lee Street United Methodist Church for worship followed by a meal of fried chicken at a local Americus restaurant. Students began the first day of discussion from the book Schools for Conversion: 12 Marks of a New Monasticism. This evening students joined together to cook a meal to bring to Koinonia’s Sunday evening pot luck and worship service. About 25 people attended the pot luck and students were introduced to other Koinonia partners and community members. Prior to the meal, all guests took communion before enjoying each other’s company and food. Following the meal, guests made a circle and listened to a message, sang songs, and talked about prayer requests and times when they felt God’s presence during the past week.
