MusicHis passion for music performance has opened doors to music education.
Korean by heritage but born in Canada, Sam pursued a music career in the United States, completing his bachelor’s degree in music education at Northeastern Illinois University, and later, a master’s degree in composition at Roosevelt University in Chicago, USA.
As a trombone and piano performer, his passion for music performance has opened doors to music education, therefore, for the past 8 years, Sam has been teaching music to all grade levels and beyond, and has conducted various ensembles, locally and abroad. Being involved with the Salvation Army music programs, composing or arranging music for brass and concert bands has also been a significant part of his music career.
Sam’s most recent position was functioning as an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University, teaching music theory and music analysis, and currently, he teaches elementary and middle school band in several schools around the Chicagoland area and serves as Worship Band Music Director at Northfield Presbyterian Church, his local church in Wheeling.
Although music may be a big part of his life, Sam is always open to learn and experience new things. He loves sports, and enjoys exploring new places, but most of all, loves being around friends, old and new.
