Dr. Rebecca Burwell

Dr. Rebecca Burwell strives to help students grasp the application of the Christian worldview as they study sociology. “I invite students into a conversation of changing the narrative and lens through which they see that world, so that they uncover the hope that is there as well,” she says. In addition, she encourages students to look back to their own faith tradition in dealing with social issues.

Burwell, who is also a faculty member with Chicago Semester, incorporates experiential learning. She believes that deeply understanding diversity comes in a variety of forms, and she designs her curriculum and pedagogical approaches to relate to students as whole-person-centered.
