Flourish
Mission Statement:
Trinity Christian College’s Flourish program provides a transformative Christian college education for students with a diagnosed intellectual disability. Flourish focuses on the growth of the whole person through a certificate program with emphasis on vocational preparation, academic development, and independent living skills.
Independent Living
Trinity’s on-campus residential housing provides wonderful opportunities for supported growth in independent living skills within the dorm setting. Through lived experience, peer mentoring, and courses designed to support the development of life skills, students will grow in their capacity to live independently.
Career Development
During the process of person-centered planning, students will identify an academic focus, leading to intended career paths. Students will engage in on and off-campus internships designed to build skills that will lead to employment in the area of their interest.
Social and Recreation
As full time Trinity students, Flourish students can participate in numerous opportunities for engagement in student life including a variety of social experiences, such as student life activities, clubs, and intramural sports.
Academics
Trinity offers a robust, inclusive, individualized curriculum designed to support students in pursuing their life goals. Students will enroll in Trinity’s foundational courses, courses designed to support Flourish program goals, and electives in a concentration of their choosing. Supported by peer mentors, students will flourish in courses with their peers across campus.

“God works through students to develop confidence in their strengths and move from being a passive receiver to living a life of active service to others in their school, home, and community,” said Christine Scholma. Scholma’s world view is based on the understanding that God has created everyone for a purpose and has set every individual on a faith journey.
