Earn a minor in science education
With a minor in science education, you will be able to share your beliefs and knowledge with the next generation of potential scientists. With a science education minor from Trinity, you will be able to explore courses in biology, chemistry, geology, and physics. If you are seeking a double major in elementary and middle grades education with a science content, you must complete the science education minor.
Earn your B.A. from Trinity
If you have a drive to become an excellent teacher and coach, a B.A. in physical education from Trinity will equip you to embrace and articulate a Christian perspective of physical activity and stewardship of the body. With a bachelor of art degree from Trinity in physical education, you will also earn a minor in K-12 education.
Trinity is just 25 miles from downtown Chicago, so you will have tremendous opportunities to complete your field experience and gain hands-on experience. You’ll also always have a professional hometown team to cheer on, whether you love baseball, hockey, basketball, football, soccer—or all of them.
Trinity’s physical education majors are eligible for the Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in PreK-12 physical education.

A health education minor will allow you to help students cultivate a lifelong commitment to fitness, sports, and leisure from a biblical perspective. Your health education studies will include nutrition, psychology, drug and chemical use and abuse, and treating sports injuries.
A degree in Special Education from Trinity is for you
You have a passion to help children who have special needs, and Trinity can get you ready.
When you choose to double major in special education from Trinity, you can pursue another major leading to a second endorsement (elementary, middle grades, a secondary program, or K-12 specialist program). The double major can be completed in four years. Special education is also a stand-alone major that can be combined with another high area of need – English as a Second Language or Bilingual Education. Special education majors also earn an education minor.
Trinity offers a Pre-K to Age 21 licensure with an endorsement in Learning Behavior Specialist I.
A B.A. from Trinity will get you ready

Trinity’s education department draws upon a Biblically-based perspective to prepare pre-service teachers to embody Christ-like servanthood. We help our students to cultivate relational peace, educational equity, and justice for all children and to impact the mind, body, and soul of each student through excellence in teaching. Our pre-service teachers exemplify professionalism and ethical behavior inside and outside of the classroom as they serve with excellence in education.
The middle grades education major leads to the Illinois Professional Educator License with middle grades endorsement (grades 5-8). At Trinity, you can focus your degree on English education; science education; or social science education.
Majors who desire endorsements in the middle grades (5-8) choose from one of the following:
- Two content area middle grades education minors• One content are middle grades education minor and double minor with ESL/bilingual
- One content are middle grades education minor and double major with special education
- One content are middle grades education minor and double major with elementary education• One content are middle grades education minor and double major with the same secondary (grade 9-12) content major
While at Trinity, your hands-on classroom experience includes:
- 200 hours of field experience (teacher aiding)
- 90 additional hours of novice teaching (pre-student teaching)
- A 16-week student teaching internship
Trinity is located just 25 miles from downtown Chicago, so your field experience, novice teaching, and internships can take place in a variety of classroom settings: urban and suburban, domestic and international, multicultural, special education, middle grades, public and private. Some of our students extend their experience much further and do student teaching and field experience around the country and around the world.
Earn your minor from Trinity
If you are called to help athletes become their best both on and off the field, then you may want to consider a minor in coaching. This minor will allow you to bring a Christian perspective of physical activity and stewardship of the body that enables lifelong service to the Kingdom of God.
Your coursework will include biology, human anatomy and physiology, and studies into the physical and psychological aspects of sports.
Make a difference with a minor from Trinity
If you are interested in the ways that education combines with other areas, a minor in education studies may be for you. In your coursework, you will be introduced to principles of education, educational psychology, cross cultural and multicultural issues in education, life span development, and an introduction to exceptional children.

With an education degree from Trinity, you will be prepared to enter the classroom believing that all children can learn; understanding students of diverse populations and abilities; and meeting the demands of increasingly rigorous, standards-based education.
At Trinity, your coursework will be broad-based with an emphasis on the liberal arts. Courses will include arts in education, technology in education, educational psychology, introduction to biological science, elementary English language arts methods, world geography, earth science, elementary history methods, college algebra, inferential statistics for elementary teachers, physical education for K-9 educators, introduction to physical science, and American government and politics.

With an education minor from Trinity, you will be prepared to enter the classroom believing that all children can learn; understanding students of diverse populations and abilities; and meeting the demands of increasingly rigorous, standards-based education. When you choose a specialist education major for K-12 in Art Education, Secondary Education, Physical Education, Music Education, and Spanish Education, you will also receive an education minor. Your coursework for your minor will span theory, methods, technology, and special education classes.
Earn your B.A. from Trinity
Are you excited when you learn a new way to use computers? Do you love being introduced to new computer technologies? Do you have interests in computing as well as other academic areas? If your answer to any of these questions is “yes,” then Trinity’s distinctive Bachelor of Arts in computing program could be for you! You will earn a major in computing, with a minor in another area.
The computing major will provide you with a solid foundation in computer science along with understanding and abilities in networks, web and mobile technologies, databases, and other computer technologies. You will be well prepared to continue learning about such technologies as they evolve in the years ahead.
Computer technologies are transforming so many areas of human society that there is a rapidly growing need for those who are well rounded and possess a solid liberal arts education. With a minor in another area, you will understand how technology can be deployed across sectors and fields. Just as importantly, your minor will enrich your understanding of computers, and the Christian liberal arts education you receive at Trinity will empower you to make faithful and insightful decisions about these powerful technologies.
