Counseling Services

Welcome to Trinity Counseling Services!

At Trinity Christian College, we believe that genuine education involves the whole person. In partnership with Siv Counseling and Consultation, we provide access to counseling services designed to cultivate emotional well-being, relational health, and spiritual vitality for all our student body. We provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and confidential space so that you can grow in your understanding of yourself and your world.

We are here to help you thrive, reach your academic goals, and tell the story of who you are becoming. Siv’s counselors are ready to have confidential and therapeutic conversations to help with things like stress, anxiety, and depression. We are also here to help you navigate through the transition to college as well as through some of the challenges students can face during this unique season of their life such as broken relationships, disordered eating, alcohol and drug addiction, issues related to sexuality and gender, trauma, conflicts related to faith, and more. All counselors are professionally trained and services are confidential. Counseling is available to all Trinity Christian College students at no cost depending on eligibility.

There are three ways to receive services through the counseling center based on your level of need.

Groups

Our desire to address the common needs of students is top priority. Groups provide significant benefits to students by fostering a sense of community and shared experience. Siv groups offer a supportive environment where students can discuss common challenges such as academic stress, social adjustment, and mental health concerns. Participation in group therapy can enhance your coping strategies, improve your interpersonal skills, and reduce feelings of isolation. By connecting with peers who understand your struggles, you gain valuable insights and support, which promotes personal growth and emotional resilience.

Short Term Care

To support more specific needs that require an individual experience, Siv provides in-person individual sessions on campus. In individual therapy, you’ll meet one-on-one with a counselor typically weekly or every other week for up to six sessions to address your concerns. Our counselors provide short-term, goal-directed, solution focused therapy designed to identify and implement effective strategies to cope with one or two specific needs. If you are interested in longer-term care, Siv counselors can also work with you to explore alternative options.

Areas of treatment may include: transitioning to school, relationship issues, navigating stress and anxiety, grief and loss, conflicts with faith.

Long Term Care

If you have an established mental health concern or issue, need more than the allotted 6 sessions based on your struggles, or are looking for longer support as you navigate school and life, a Siv counselor will work with you to identify longer term solutions. This could include the option of meeting long term with a Siv counselor on campus based on availability, establishing a relationship with a Siv counselor off-campus at one of our Chicago locations, meeting with a Siv counselor virtually, or helping to connect you with a local off-campus provider. Long term care typically involves additional costs and we encourage you to reach out to a Siv counselor to discuss your needs including what specific goals and concerns you have, your financial resources and insurance options, location and transportation needs, and provider preferences if applicable.

Areas of treatment may include: anxiety, depression, distorted eating, trauma, issues with sexuality and gender, pre-existing mental health struggles.
